Flint Bishop launches new corporate identity

02.03.07

East Midlands’ law firm Flint Bishop and Barnett – recently named the UK’s fastest growing legal practice – has changed its name and launched a vibrant new corporate identity as part of a major re-brand.

The 120 year old firm with offices in Derby, Nottingham and Ashbourne will now be known as Flint Bishop.

It unveiled its new corporate identity and name change in a meeting with all employees during the firm’s AGM at Pride Park in Derby and at a series of launch events in Derby and Nottingham.

Achieving a 47% growth in turnover last year put the firm squarely into The Lawyer’s Rising 50 table while managing partner Ken Dixon recently became the first legal professional from the region to make The Lawyer’s National Hot 100 list for 2007.

To discover its clients’ perceptions of the business, the firm conducted a survey and used the findings to help create a new image suited to the changing legal environment.

Working with Nottingham creative agency Perspektiv, Flint Bishop used the feedback to come up with an identity which mirrored the firm’s values.

Ken Dixon added “Friendly and approachable, authoritative, focused and reliable were among the comments received from both our commercial and private clients who commended the firm on its high level of commitment and professionalism.”

“Our new typeface in shades of red and grey alludes to the firm’s inherent qualities of warmth and strength, while dropping the Barnett from our name has given the firm a more contemporary user-friendly feel.”

Commenting on the rebrand, Ian Beardmore, the firm’s senior partner, said “It represents a significant milestone in the firm’s long history and reflects the changes made over the past few years. The rebrand will help take us where we want to be in terms of profile and ongoing expansion.”

Ken Dixon added “We have always been customer focussed but over the past few years we have specifically worked on ways of improving the delivery of that service to our clients, allowing us to excel in the East Midlands’ legal sector. For example, we were the first East Midlands firm to achieve the coveted Law Society Lexcel Quality Award for service.”

Employing around 250 staff, Flint Bishop has continued to make high profile recruitments, including the recent appointment of Gavin White, Partner in the Corporate/Commercial department. Gavin was formerly with HBJ Gateley Wareing LLP.

Ken added “Since Ian and I stopped fee earning and concentrated purely on management and strategic issues, we have been able to focus completely on where we want to go and how to get there.”

“Achieving a £13m turnover last year is testament to how well this strategy has worked. Going forward, the re-brand will help us consolidate our position as a leading player in the East Midlands and will assist us as we continue to pursue a sustained programme of organic growth.”

“Our quality of advice is second to none and our strength in depth in both individual and commercial work gives us every confidence that our goals can be achieved.”
